2 inch elastic band

stitch marker 

Color of choice of Home Spun Boucle yarn


22 sc around band end with slip knot

chain 3 skip 1st stitch

1 dc in first 4 stitches 

2dc in 5th stitch  

slip knot at end of row - chain 2- skip stitch- sc in first 3rd stitches- 2 dc in every 4th stitch -

repeat all around - end row with slip knot- chain two- skip first stitch- sc in first 2 stitches-

2 sc in every 3rd stitch - repeat all around

slip knot at end of row- chain 2- 1 sc in each stitch around

slip knot at the end - turn work around (in reverse).

dc in each stitch around- end with slip knot- chain two - turn work around- chain two-

begin to decrease- 

sc in the following 3 stitches, decrease with a slip knot in every 4th stitch. 

repeat for 2 rows ending with slip knot - chain 2- skip stitch - 

next row sc in next 3 stitches - decrease in every 4th stitch -repeat

next row sc in next 2 stitches - decrease in every 3rd stitch -repeat 

end with slip knot - chain 2 - skip 1st stitch- 1 sc in each following stitch around. 

Tubing should start to form. try hat on to measure for desired head width.  you may need to increase or decrease.

if not, continue to Sc in each following stitches at desired width and desired length of tubing. 


This hat has universal qualities.  It can be worn as a newsboy, Afghani-Pakol, beret to the left or to the right. The hat can be worn slouch style, stuff with dreads, or a free style ponytail.

The Plan
